From the late fifties till today women of many
countries are found wearing Brazilian bikini and relaxing themselves on the vast beaches spread all across the
world. The bikini is not only a clothing of the modern world but it was also
worn by the women of the ancient Roman civilization. From then till now bikini
has undergone various transformations and now it has become the dress code of
the beaches.
Various
Kinds And Types Of Bikinis
The Brazilian
bikini worn mostly in the beaches varies widely in color, types, print and
materials. Taking of materials, bikini is made in various types of materials.
Beginning from cotton, it is now made in nylon and lycra. Some designers have
also made an advanced version of Brazilian
bikini made with waste materials or by products generated as a result of
the production activities. Some have even tried making bikini with newspaper
which gets dissolved in water. Now to mention about the prints floral bikini
were a rage and a fashion in the 1960’s. Nowadays in addition to the floral
prints we have bikini in polka dots, lining, stripes and animal prints.
Ancient
Notion About Bikinis
As Brazilian
Bikini conceals less and reveals more about femininity it wasn’t very open
heartedly accepted in the medieval ages. Women were reluctant to wear it. Many
religious organizations had banned describing it as very sinful, outrageous and
indecent. So strong was the resistance
of these people that the organizers of the famous “Miss Universe” beauty
pageant were forced to withdraw bikini from their competitions.
Legal
And Religious Reluctance
With the Pope also describing the Brazilian Bikini as sinful people of
the Catholic Community also banned bikini and forbade the women of their family
from wearing them. The very well advanced nations of the world namely Spain,
Portugal, Vatican, France, Italy, Belgium, and also the United States banned
bikini in their countries. But with the advancement of the society the narrow
mindset changing people gradually accepted bikini and gave the women permission
to wear them.
The
Arrival Of Bikini In India
India being a country vast in its cultural diversity
accepted bikini very much late then their foreign counterparts. Brazilian Bikini first came to India
when Sharmila Tagore first wore it in a song of her famous film called “An
Evening In Paris”. The film garnered a lot of attention because of this song
and also raised a few eyebrows. But her bold step was very well supported by
the other industry actress as well. From then there was no looking back. After
2005 it became quite a natural thing with actresses wearing Brazilian Bikini in their pictures.
